Your low-cost industrial or agricultural building
Adding a photovoltaic generator to the roof of a building enables you to reduce much of its construction costs. That’s because a photovoltaic building enables you to benefit from your asset in the long term while also reducing the maintenance costs of the roof, particularly for leakproofing.
This approach may also help you make your building compliant with regulatory or labeling constraints of construction required by RT 2012 or the biodiversity law.
This also gives you the option to locally produce renewable power that you can directly consume thanks to our direct-sales solutions.
Finally, you’re helping reduce greenhouse gases to meet French and European targets, with a civic-minded approach that makes you a player in the energy transition.
What construction system should a photovoltaic building use?
Solar panels are fastened onto the roof of the building using an integration system. The panels are connected to one another, then linked to inverters and a meter to create a photovoltaic generator.
Photovoltaic installations: are placed on the roofs of farm buildings in steel trays that provide cover and leak-tightness. For industrial or office buildings, the photovoltaic installation may also simply cover the existing roof for a low cost (e.g. for terraced roofs).
CVE’s solutions
Several options are possible depending on the nature of your project:
We propose leasing a plot of land via a long-term construction lease (30 years on average) and to erect a photovoltaic building there at our own expense that you will be able to use.
In this case, we remain the operator of the photovoltaic plant.
Alternatively, we propose leasing only the roof of your new building through a long-term improvement lease (30 years on average) and to install the PV plant onto it, which we will own and operate. In return, we will pay you an annual rent or cash balance that will help you finance the construction of your building.
Once the lease has ended, ownership of the canopies is transferred to you.
With respect to energy sales, the project will be submitted by Cap Vert Energie to the energy regulation commission’s RFPs in order to obtain a purchase obligation contract or additional compensation with EDF for a period of 20 years.
We can also sell you all or some of the photovoltaic power produced in this way at your site through our direct sales solutions.
In both cases, CVE is your sole point of contact, with a dedicated team that takes over all of the approaches and formalities related to the project:
- feasibility studies
- design engineering based on your building operating needs
- obtaining permission
- connecting the plant to the Enedis grid or ELD (Local Distribution Company)
- securing the electricity rate (RFPs from the energy regulation commission)
- legal process
- financing
- choosing suppliers and construction
- operation and maintenance.
CVE’s expertise
CVE has all the skills it needs in-house to develop a solar project:
- An integrated multitechnical research office
- A procurement department that sources components and evaluates supplier quality (visiting production plants)
- A construction team with four dedicated project managers
- Dedicated tools for designing, monitoring, and operating the projects.

Applications
- Farm building (equipment storage, barn, stables, riding center)
- Wine cellar
- Industrial building
- Public building (school, rec center, equipment building, etc.)
Our prerequisites
- Whether you fully own the land, or whether all the landowners are signed on to the project (in the event of joint ownership)
- Building surface area: 1200 m² minimum
- Enedis or ELD electrical grid nearby
